Do It Yourself (DIY) Appliance Maintenance Tips.

1. Read your manual for functioning load sizes. Example: GE brands have a max load of 3/4th's full.

3. Be careful with the bleach. Rinse your bleach dispenser after each use and clean up any bleach spills. 

4. Detergent "pods" and fabric softeners. Pods do not dissolve completely and end up in your pump. Fabric softeners are greasy toxins that we wear all day every day, and if overused it can cause buildup in the machine which will end up damaging the washer. Use wool balls in the dryer with essential oils for your fabric softener.

If your dryer exhausts to the roof. ensure that the roof cap is cleaned twice/year as well. Built up lint gets trapped there and can cause your dryer to overheat and eventually arch out your heating element.
